Education Scholarships and Financial Aid
Colleges and national organizations offer scholarships ranging from small amounts to full tuition, ask your financial aid office for more information. The federal government offers several student-aid programs to help pay for teacher education costs, including:
- Pell Grants
- Federal Work-Study Program
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program
- Stafford Loan Program
- Federal PLUS Loans
- Perkins Loan Program
- State sponsored loan and grant programs
- Federal Teacher Loan Forgiveness Provision, borrowers who teach five consecutive years in high-poverty schools (ones that qualify for Title I funds) can have up to $5,000 in loans forgiven.
