Oklahoma City University

At Oklahoma City University, our students come first. We offer:

Small Classes, Dedicated Faculty

Our classes are small (averaging thirteen students for graduate courses.) All of our classes are taught by professors who share a commitment to the success of each student. Our students have daily access to their professors and plenty of individual attention. Although many of our professors conduct research and publish in academic and trade journals, their number one priority is teaching students.

Values-Centered Education

Oklahoma City University offers a quality, values-centered education. United Methodist universities share a rich tradition of academic excellence.

Rich Cultural Experience

Oklahoma City University is small enough for you to feel a sense of community but large enough to offer the full university experience. Our campus sits in the heart of a major metropolitan area, amid historic neighborhoods, near the State Capitol complex and close to downtown attractions and the Bricktown entertainment district. Entertainment, museums, restaurants and shops are all nearby. Opportunities for cultural enrichment abound on campus, including concerts, plays and world-renowned speakers.

State-of-the-Art Facilities, Lush Campus

The university continues to improve facilities and services to accommodate our students. We have several multi-million-dollar campus improvements underway that will enhance the student experience. The beautifully landscaped grounds make life at Oklahoma City University a pleasure, providing an inviting space for quiet study or the odd football or soccer game on the lawn.

Discovering the uniqueness of individuals and guiding them to their potential are the greatest challenges of the teaching profession. Our programs are designed to actively involve the student in the process of becoming a teacher. Our mission is to prepare teachers who have an appreciation of the individual through an understanding of physical, cognitive, social and emotional development.

Quality learning experiences enable our students to develop self confidence and excitement about teaching while supporting the greatest personal growth for our future teachers. Each student is personally assisted through the entire program by at least two faculty mentors who advise the student on course selection, school experiences and other issues of importance to the personal and professional growth of the student/teacher.

Graduate scholarships and assistantships are available for qualified new full-time students (nine credit hours or more). Counselors are available to assist in developing a financial aid package (including scholarships, loans, and work-study) that puts your graduate degree within reach.
