The Boston University College of Fine Arts is a conservatory-style school within a major research university, offering a comprehensive education along with professional training in music to undergraduate students. The graduate program in the School of Music offers professional training in music performance with studies in musicology, theory and music education. Education at the College of Fine Arts begins at Boston University and extends into the city of Boston, a center of cultural, artistic and intellectual activity.

Boston University School of Music

The Boston University School of Music, established in 1872, was the first degree-granting music institution in the United States. In 1967, the School of Music co-sponsored the Tanglewood Symposium which was influential in changing American music education. Its students--both on-campus and online--benefit from this rich heritage by a proven music education curriculum connected to musicology and music history that has produced great music educators. We are now introducing this time-honored program to students around the world.
