Early Childhood Education

The purpose of this program is to prepare graduates for entry-level positions as teaching assistants and child care-givers in nursery schools, pre-schools and primary school grades as well as positions in day care centers. Upon successful completion graduates will be able to provide individualized instruction and attention using the teacher's lesson plan, assist and supervise students in a classroom setting, create and maintain a learning environment, follow the guidelines and best practices for working with, caring for and educating infants, toddlers and early-school-age children; and provide assistance and support for students with special needs.

Graduates may seek career opportunities in public and private schools, pre-schools, day-care centers and Head Start programs.
