Indiana Wesleyan University

Indiana Wesleyan University is an evangelical Christian comprehensive university founded in 1920 and committed to liberal arts and professional education. Through innovative degree programs for adult and residential students IWU has become one of the fastest-growing Christian universities in America. More than 7,500 adult learners are pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees at multiple sites throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and via online programs.

At Indiana Wesleyan University, you will become part of a small supportive team of adult learners who will stick with you throughout your program to help you meet your educational goals. Our faculty are facilitators, rather than lecturers, and they know that adults learn best in an interactive format with heavy emphasis on the practical application of their learning. In your class, you will gain from the rich experiences of other adult learners. This type of collaborative learning leads to graduation rates that are much higher than other schools.

Accreditation

Indiana Wesleyan University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).

Master of Education

The curriculum and instruction program leading to a Master of Education degree (MEd) is designed to further develop the skills of classroom teachers. Development of practical approaches to educational challenges is a major goal of the program.

Completion of 36 semester hours at the graduate level is required for graduation. A core program, consisting of 10 courses and 30 semester hours, will be offered in sequence to cohorts of professionals. Up to six semester hours of graduate courses in education may be transferred from regionally accredited institutions.

Courses may be used to renew an Indiana license. Professionalization of a license requires completion of the master's degree and semester hours in specific academic disciplines. Students should seek the counsel of their advisor if they are planning to professionalize their license.

The program is designed to provide maximum convenience to the student. Courses are scheduled on Saturdays; registration may be completed by mail, payment may be made with VISA and MasterCard; books will be delivered to the students and extra charges, such as parking fees, will not be assessed. A Saturday morning orientation is held at the beginning of the program to introduce students to IWU and to give students an overall understanding of the Master of Education program.

*This program is offered both on-campus and online.
