College of Mount Saint Vincent
The College of Mount Saint Vincent is a four-year, co-educational, liberal arts college located in Riverdale, New York. Overlooking the Hudson River, its beautiful 70-acre campus is just minutes from midtown New York City and all the excitement and opportunities it affords. Founded in 1847 by the Sisters of Charity, Mount Saint Vincent is a private, independent institution in the Catholic tradition.
Today, the co-educational college provides 1,600 full-time and part-time students, representing various religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds an excellent education. Small classes, the personal attention of a 13:1 student-faculty ratio and a faculty with both academic credentials and professional experience, all provide students with an exceptional learning environment.
Master of Science in Urban & Multicultural Education
More than ever before, educators need to understand the cultures of all children, adolescents and families. Mount Saint Vincent's graduate program in urban and multicultural education prepares teachers to assume teaching and leadership positions as knowledgeable practitioners who can provide productive learning environments in multicultural and multilingual classrooms and schools.
A unique, cutting-edge program, it is designed to give teachers the knowledge, skills and expertise they need to teach effectively in today's increasingly diverse school systems. It's also a values-centered program based on the belief that learning and culture are inseparable, as are relationships among learner, teacher, environment and purpose for learning. You'll benefit from small classes, one-on-one advising with dedicated faculty and conveniently scheduled classes. For students who already hold a bachelor's degree.
Advanced Certificate Programs
The Department of Graduate Education also offers three New York State approved advanced certificate programs that are derived from the master of science in urban and multicultural education. Each program consists of three courses (nine credits). Upon completion of the course of study, students are awarded an advanced certificate in the selected area of study.
