Doctor of Education (EdD)

Liberty University's Doctor of Education program provides advanced training for individuals seeking positions in higher-education, developing competent and effective leaders with a Christian worldview who will model high academic standards and assume a leadership role in the field of education. Specialized courses develop the skills necessary to assume a facilitating role in accomplishing the goals and objectives of an education system, whether it is as a teacher, superintendent, principal, college instructor or another academic position requiring strong leadership and decision-making abilities. This program is accredited through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) Accreditation, and is a state-approved program for school licensure (reciprocity with other states) or endorsements.

If a student has completed an educational specialist degree from an accredited university, a program of 30+ hours will be designed on a case-by-case basis to complete the Ed.D. program.

Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)

Liberty University's School of Education now offers a variety of ways to pursue a graduate education degree, regardless of your undergraduate experience. Our Master of Arts in Teaching is specifically geared toward individuals with no prior teaching experience who are interested in gaining initial teaching licensure in elementary education, secondary education, or special education. Along with core courses in this program, you will choose one of the three specializations for licensure, and will complete your student teaching requirement in the area in which you are seeking licensure.

Master of Education (MEd)

Education Specialist (EdS)

Liberty University's Educational Specialist program is designed to prepare competent and effective leaders with a Christian worldview who will model high academic standards and assume a leadership role in the field of education. Courses provide specialized preparation for individuals seeking credentials for K-12 or university-level school positions. Students will develop the skills necessary to assume a facilitating role in accomplishing the goals and objectives of an education system. This degree program is well-suited for the professional educator seeking a salary increase or who has a desire to pursue a doctoral degree. Students of this program may choose a specialized cognate area along with their core courses in educational leadership. This program is accredited through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) Accreditation, and is a state-approved program for school licensure (reciprocity with other states) or endorsements.
