Through its academic and co-curricular programs, the University provides rich educational opportunities that relate to both the academic and personal development of its students. For its undergraduates the University offers a challenging general education program, as well as a strong knowledge base in a particular discipline. Graduate programs at La Verne are offered in selected professional disciplines. These programs are aimed at the practicing professional, and seek to integrate theory and practice.

Teaching Education Credentials

Single Subject and Multiple Subject Credentials

The University of La Verne's teacher education program is designed to equip tomorrow's teachers with the knowledge and skills they need to make a positive impact on the children in their classrooms and in the community. The program is targeted to meet the needs of California's diverse student population, emphasizing language development, cultural diversity, and humanistic approaches to the learning process. Students may pursue a Multiple Subject (typically grades K–6) or a Single Subject (typically junior high and high school) teaching credential. Cross-cultural, language and academic development issues are incorporated into the program.

Optional MEd Special Emphasis

Designed for classroom teachers with particular interests, this advanced degree offers the flexibility to devise a unique program combining regular coursework with independent study on topics chosen by the learner. Integrating theory and practical skills, the program culminates in a final project.
