Shorter College is committed to providing quality accelerated
degree programs to working adult students. The curriculum,
instruction and administration of the programs are designed to
interrelate theories and research with practical application.
Life-long learning is emphasized and taught throughout the
curricula. Three locations in metro Atlanta, in addition to
Shorter's main campus in Rome, provide educational opportunities
to geographically distant individuals.
Professional Studies degree programs target goal-oriented
individuals who seek personal and professional growth. Programs
have been customized for individuals with little previous college
experience and for those with extensive educational backgrounds.
The ASE in Early Childhood Education offers students coursework,
advisement, and practical classroom experiences that provide a
strong foundation for the Bachelor of Science in Education with a
major in Early Childhood Education degree. The ASE consists of 63
semester credit hours

The computer-enhanced M.Ed. is designed to provide an appropriate
setting for students to upgrade credentials while developing as a
classroom professional. Courses emphasize professional
development, development of new skills, and the updating of
knowledge in the certification area. Major emphases will include
the role of the professional in a changing society and demands
for working with a dynamic, ever-changing clientèle. While
the M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction does not lead to initial
certification, it may be used to elevate a certificate from a T-4
to a T-5 in the state of Georgia. The M.Ed. consists of 34
semester credit hours.
