We offer various programs appropriate for educators, including:
The MA in Education degree is especially designed for the
part-time student with most courses offered on campus in late
afternoons and evenings. Some courses are offered online.

The UM-Flint WebPlus Weekend/Online Program in Educational
Administration is designed to provide a high-quality experience
to full-time, working educators. A unique blend of face-to-face
interaction and convenient online coursework provides the
concepts and tools needed for successful K-12 administration.
Monthly Saturday visits on the Flint campus are combined with
coursework that you can do from the convenience of your own
computer connected to the Internet. In addition, a clinical
experience is organized in your current school setting.
After completion of the two-year, 39-credit hour program,
students are awarded a Master of Public Administration from the
University of Michigan's nationally-recognized Horace H. Rackham
School of Graduate Studies.
Education Specialist (EdS)

The Education Specialist degree is a post-Master's program
designed to prepare in-service teachers and educational leaders
to assume greater professional roles in their building and/or in
administration and supervision. The emphasis of the program is
applied learning and preparation for executive leadership
assignments.
The program includes 30 credit hours over 18 months in a co-hort
structure. The format is a blend of online class-work, coupled
with on-campus classes one Saturday per month.
Two concentrations are available in the EdS program: Curriculum
and Instruction or Educational Leadership.
Master of Arts in Administration

The Master of Arts in Arts Administration is intended to address
the needs of individuals wishing to prepare for roles as leaders
in designing, implementing, and managing art activities.
The program will provide you with leadership and other advanced
skills in a wide range of areas such as artistic traditions and
aesthetic styles, grant writing, personnel policies, fiscal
management, and marketing.
A set of core courses with specializations in visual arts
(museum, galleries) and performance (music, theatre, and dance)
compose the curriculum. Your core courses will focus on areas
that are essential for all arts administrators while the
specialized courses will enable you to examine in greater depth
your select areas of study.
Master of Science (MS) in Biology

The MS in Biology provides an advanced degree for students who
have undergraduate degrees in biology or a related life science.
The program is offered for working biologists in various
professions including educators teaching science at the secondary
level.
The primary goals of the program are to offer broad, expanded
training, as well as detailed, advanced training in biology and a
complete research experience for post-baccalaureate students.
The program accommodates the part-time student with courses
offered at convenient times to meet the demanding schedule of the
working professional.
Master of Science (MS) in Chemistry/Biochemistry

The Master of Science in Chemistry or Biochemistry has been
designed to provide students with the education and research
experiences that are necessary to be fully prepared for a
successful career in the chemical sciences.
Entry-level industrial or governmental positions are routinely
requiring an MS degree combined with a background in performing
independent research. The program requires students to perform
research and defend a thesis, thus ensuring students have the
needed experience.

The MS in Computer and Information Systems program is designed
primarily for working professionals wishing to improve their
skills and knowledge in computer and information
technology-related fields as well as those interested in pursuing
a career in this field. These may include teachers seeking a
Master's degree to fulfill advance degree requirements.
The associated curriculum has been designed with significant
flexibility, yet with rigor. Our program offers a truly unique
and exciting educational experience through our newly developed
multi-media cyber classroom, which captures the entire classroom
experience and allows each student to tailor their education from
a virtual, completely online learning experience to a completely
in-class, on-campus experience. The program offers two
concentrations: a Computer Science concentration and an
Information Systems concentration, as well as a preparatory Fast
Track to allow students from various backgrounds to quickly
prepare themselves for the program.
Master of Arts (MA) in English

The Master of Arts in English degree has a flexible curriculum
and is offered as a part-time program, with classes in a variety
of traditional, online and mixed-mode formats with meetings
during evening hours and weekends. It is designed to provide
convenience and flexibility to working professionals.
The program is intended to provide a post-baccalaureate
educational opportunity for people who are interested in pursuing
advanced study in English. Students may choose to elect a
concentration in American Literature, British Literature,
Composition and Rhetoric, Linguistics and Language or Pedagogy in
English.
Master of Liberal Studies (MLS)

The Master of Liberal Studies degree is offered through the
Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies. It offers
concentrations in American Culture, and Theatre and Community.
The MLS program is designed to:
Engage students in a critical, multidisciplinary
examination of contemporary American Culture/Theatre and
Community.
Encourage students to explore and critique issues
important to American thought and culture, such as race, gender,
equality, politics, religion and popular culture.
Help students learn research methods and techniques and
apply them in a thesis or research/creative project that
critically examines an issue beyond the scope of individual
courses and when possible, encourages meaningful engagement in
the community.
Set students' experiences in a meaningful context by
offering a series of prescribed core courses which are enriched
by student choices from a series of elective courses.
The MLS degree is especially designed for the part-time student.
MA in Social Sciences

The MA in Social Sciences is designed to engage students in
critical, multi-disciplinary exploration of human societies
across the globe. Students explore social, historical, cultural,
political, and economic themes, using both theoretical approaches
and concrete case studies. Students take a core set of four
social science classes, as well as a set of four classes from one
of three tracks: U.S. History and Politics, Global Studies, or
Gender Studies. In addition to the core and track-oriented
classes, each student will take a three-credit-hour capstone
course and three credit hours of cognates from an approved list
of courses. It may be possible with consent of an advisor to
customize the program track courses to meet the needs of the
student.

- Program appropriate for people seeking increased knowledge in
areas of social sciences, including teachers seeking to meet

reading, research, and writing skills in social science
*This program may be used to meet the 18 hour continuing
education/professional development requirement for teachers to
progress from a Provisional Certificate to a Professional
Certificate, or to meet the 6 credit hour requirement for
Professional Certificate renewal.
