UM-Flint's quality graduate programs are designed to meet the

The MA in Education degree is especially designed for the
part-time student with most courses offered on campus in late
afternoons and evenings. Some courses are offered online.

MA in Social Sciences

The MA in Social Sciences is designed to engage students in
critical, multi-disciplinary exploration of human societies
across the globe. Students explore social, historical, cultural,
political, and economic themes, using both theoretical approaches
and concrete case studies. Students take a core set of four
social science classes, as well as a set of four classes from one
of three tracks: U.S. History and Politics, Global Studies, or
Gender Studies. In addition to the core and track-oriented
classes, each student will take a three-credit-hour capstone
course and three credit hours of cognates from an approved list
of courses. It may be possible with consent of an advisor to
customize the program track courses to meet the needs of the
student.

The UM-Flint WebPlus Weekend/Online Program in Educational
Administration is designed to provide a high-quality experience
to full-time, working educators. A unique blend of face-to-face
interaction and convenient online coursework provides the
concepts and tools needed for successful K-12 administration.
Monthly Saturday visits on the Flint campus are combined with
coursework that you can do from the convenience of your own
computer connected to the Internet. In addition, a clinical
experience is organized in your current school setting.
After completion of the two-year, 39-credit hour program,
students are awarded a Master of Public Administration from the
University of Michigan's nationally-recognized Horace H. Rackham
School of Graduate Studies.
Master of Liberal Studies (MLS) in American Culture

The MLS in American Culture addresses teachers and others in
educational institutions who seek professional improvement and
who want a firmer background in issues confronting our nation.
The MLS program is designed to:
Engage students in a critical, multidisciplinary
examination of contemporary American culture.
Encourage students to explore and critique issues
important to American thought and culture, such as race,
gender, equality, politics, religion and popular culture.
Help students learn research methods and techniques and
apply them in a thesis project that critically examines an
issue beyond the scope of individual courses.
Set students' experiences in a meaningful context by
offering a series of prescribed core courses which are enriched
by student choices from a series of elective courses.
The MLS degree is especially designed for the part-time student.
Master of Science (MS) in Biology

The MS in Biology provides an advanced degree for students who
have undergraduate degrees in biology or a related life science.
The program is offered for working biologists in various
professions including educators teaching science at the secondary
level.
The primary goals of the program are to offer broad, expanded
training, as well as detailed, advanced training in biology and a
complete research experience for post-baccalaureate students.
The program accommodates the part-time student with courses
offered at convenient times to meet the demanding schedule of the
working professional.
Master of Science (MS) in Computer and Information Systems

The MS in Computer and Information Systems program is designed
primarily for working professionals wishing to improve their
skills and knowledge in computer and information
technology-related fields as well as those interested in pursuing
a career in this field. These may include teachers seeking a
Master's degree to fulfill advance degree requirements.
The associated curriculum has been designed with significant
flexibility, yet with rigor. All courses are offered in a "mixed
mode" format, mixing online coursework with on-campus classes
during evening hours. The program leverages technology by using
course management software (CMS) to achieve greater scheduling
flexibility, thereby accommodating the complex lives of working
adults. This facilitates students working full-time to be able to
maintain their existing careers while working on their degrees.
