Master of Education (MEd)
The Master of Education (MEd) degree programs offered by Jones
International University will land graduates squarely on
education's frontier, with the business and education worlds
waiting to welcome them.
The MEd degree program areas will prepare JIU graduates to:
- Assess e-learning outcomes through data collection, analysis,
synthesis, evaluation and implementation.
- Evaluate existing corporate training programs, and identify
and implement new ones.
- Assume a global perspective in the management of a learning
organization's human, financial, ecological and other resources.
- Manage information, identifying appropriate search and
assessment methods and conducting needs assessments.
- Use best practices for message design, graphics design,
interface/screen design and learning environment design.
- Evaluate programs, curriculum and courses.
- Combine the elements of the MEd degree programs to function
as an e-learning generalist.

Degree Specializations
MEd in Adult Education
Becoming an excellent teacher and/or administrator for adult
learning organizations is a most rewarding career goal. Adult
learning organization teachers and administrators are the leaders
of their learning communities and are responsible for developing
and implementing quality curriculum, improving teaching and
learning, and transforming their organizations. The Master of
Education in Adult Education prepares adult educators to
effectively meet these challenges.
MEd in Corporate Training and Knowledge Management
The MEd in e-Learning: Corporate Training and Knowledge
Management degree specialization prepares students to develop,
implement, and evaluate professional corporate training programs
and curricula. Incorporating both hands-on experience and an
understanding of program management strategies, students master
all aspects of the training process, including human resource
development, internal and external marketing and maintaining
professional standards.
MEd in Education Leadership and Administration
This MEd program is designed for individuals preparing for
leadership and administrative positions in public and private
education at the local, state and national levels. It also leads
to preparation for a principal's license. The curriculum covers
national and local issues affecting education and includes
development of mastery in strategic planning, organizational
management and accountability.
MEd in Education Leadership and Administration: Principal and
Administrator Licensure
The MEd Principal & Administrator Licensure Degree (PALD)
prepares students to become licensed principals and
administrators. The degree was created to meet nationally
recognized school leadership standards. Students in the PALD
program develop their knowledge and expertise in strategic
planning, organizational management and accountability as they
prepare for leadership and administrative positions in public and
private institutions.
MEd in Elementary Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
In the degree program elementary teachers will develop their
knowledge of and expertise in curriculum design, instructional
strategies and assessment approaches to enable all students to
achieve high standards.
MEd in Elementary Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment: Teacher
Licensure
The MEd Teacher Licensure Degree (TLD) prepares students to
become licensed teachers. The degree was created to meet
nationally recognized curriculum and instruction standards.
Students in the TLD develop their knowledge and expertise in
curriculum design, instructional strategies and assessment
approaches that help K-12 students reach their potential in
public and private institutions.
MEd in e-Learning Technology and Design
Mastering the best practices for message graphic,
interface/screen, and learning environment design are all
components of the MEd in e-Learning Technology and Design degree
specialization. Students also gain experience in evaluating
educational programs and computer-mediated communication, and
address special issues in online or distance learning.
MEd in Higher Education Leadership and Administration
Understanding how adults learn, the evolution of higher education
and leadership strategies for success are essential to leaders
who intend to shape the future of high education. The Master of
Education degree in Higher Education Leadership and
Administration is designed to help students become familiar with
relevant literature and apply theory to the practice of
leadership.
MEd in K-12 English as a Second Language Education
The MEd in K-12 ESL Education degree program is designed for
licensed educators who are interested in pursuing an additional
endorsement as a teacher of students who are learning English as
a second language. Candidates find coursework designed to augment
their professional knowledge, skills and aptitude.
The CDE and CCHE recognize the high quality of JIU's MEd
preparation degrees and have designated JIU as a state-approved
program of teacher and principal/administrator preparation. For
most states, graduating from an approved program of preparation
is an important step toward achieving educator licensure or
certification.

The MEd in K-12 ESL Education: Teacher Licensure degree program
prepares educators who are pursuing licensure or certification as
a teacher of students who are learning English as a second

Education Specialist (EdS) in K-12 Leadership
JIU's Education Specialist (EdS) in K-12 Education Leadership
degree program's mission is to graduate successful and
