Master of Science in Education (Online)
Our online program enables teachers and administrators to expand
their career opportunities, and assist other professionals to
meet certification standards or become educators. A typical Saint
Joseph's College Master of Science in Education (MSEd) student is
an independent learner who enjoys the present, while taking the
future seriously. If you are either a practicing teacher
advancing in your profession, or an adult career-changer
transitioning into education, this program offers you some highly
unusual combinations of present quality and convenience, with
future advantage and opportunity.
This online program enables students to:
- Advance their career or gain full professional certification
- Change careers into secondary-level teaching
- Move towards becoming a principal
- Educate patients and the public in allied health professions
- Become a staff trainer or in-service education coordinator in
their place of employment
- Complete a degree completely online with affordable tuition
and financial aid available to qualified students
Students in the MSEd program can choose from the following
concentrations:
Administrative Management
The administrative management concentration satisfies many
states' requirements for building administrator certification.
Catholic School Leadership
The Catholic School Leadership degree concentration is focused
on practitioners working within K-12 Catholic schools
throughout the country and beyond who desire to move towards
supervisory roles such as vice principal, principal,
headmistress, headmaster, dean, or similar leadership
positions. This degree is also focused at current school
leaders within the Catholic school system who wish to upgrade
their skills.
Health Care Educator
The health care educator concentration provides one of the few
hybrid health care-education master's degree programs in the
country, reflecting the College's dual history of preparation
for both the teaching and health care professions.
School Educator
The school educator concentration was initially designed in
part to meet Maine's "alternate route" requirements for
professional certification, which are similar to those of a
number of other states.
School Leadership
The school leadership concentration satisfies many states'
requirements for building administrator certification. Students
may choose to complete an Administrative Internship. This
internship provides students with an opportunity to intern in
an educational setting under the supervision of a mentor.
Courses available through this online master's program satisfy
a number of states' course work requirements for "alternate
route" secondary certification and those courses also serve to
prepare for the E.T.S. Praxis II "Principles of Learning and
Teaching" (PLT) exam.
