Distributed Learning at Fielding

Distributed Learning is an approach that does not require a specific, physical location in order to facilitate learning. Some of the characteristics of a distributed environment include:

  • The incorporation of technology, in-person, distance-oriented and other interactive tools to support various learning styles.

  • An integration of day-to-day life (work and non-work related) into the learning activities.

  • An emphasis on collaborative learning by peer and community interaction.

As a student at Fielding Graduate University, our programs allow for you to continue your career and, more importantly, your life.

EdD in Educational Leadership and Change

The program is designed to enable teachers, community advocates and educational administrators to work in their respective communities while simultaneously developing new leadership skills and acquiring a postgraduate education. The program allows students to strategically confront the complex realities and challenges facing schools and colleges today and in the future. These educational challenges are examined from a broad-based systems perspective.

Concentrations are offered in:

  • Community College Leadership
  • Grounded Action
  • Leadership of Higher Education Systems
  • Media Studies

During their course of study, students are required to develop and demonstrate a set of doctoral level competencies. These are based on the knowledge and skills necessary to become a scholar-practitioner and are assessed throughout the program curriculum, which consists of Knowledge Areas (KAs). To earn an EdD degree, you must complete the three required KAs from the Core Curriculum, plus five other KAs of your choice from the Elective Curriculum.
